I
also installed an extra early Westy light over the sliding door. I never
used my rear defrost so now when you pull the defrost knob out the light
comes on. I snipped the wire clean in case I ever need the rear defrost
again. Actually I have a spare defroster switch so I think I will rewire
the new lamp with that so I can have both. There are already holes predrilled
in the dash to add the knob (for the gas heater option). It's nice because
I can light up the rear from the driver's seat, like the early Westys. |

| I
have always liked the look of the slider type windows that came on the
late Baywindow transporters. I acquired a set, but I only installed
the driver's side window, so we can still open the vent window when
camping, but we can open the huge slider window when driving, for a
lot of air. Karen helped me out on a sunny day. First we removed the
jalousie window, which is only held in by a bunch of tiny screws. Then
you just slip on the new seal and grease it with something, while running
a length of cord into the seal groove. While applying pressure you pull
the cord so the seal goes over the lip of the window opening. It took
us two tries to get it in, but it's in good and doesn't leak!! |
I
stripped a 78 Westy in the junk yard and here are some of the things
I got: A deluxe padded steering wheel, new engine lid cover (under the
z-bed), and an extra mirror I installed on the kitchen cabinet door.
I also got some more plaid material and had Kathy of Classic Stitches
make me a bag to store the dash table in. John Baird sold me a nice
original clock too. It works great! I also added a second dash table
for my tv or laptop when camping, and by the way I often sit in my bus
while working on my website on the laptop..in fact I am now!! |
